As a homeschooling parent I try to provide my child with learning opportunities that also allow for her to meet other kids and get some time out of the house. There is a bonus if I can get a few minutes to grab a coffee in peace or take a walk with a fellow mom. That is why when I found Happy Accidents Art Studio I was so excited.
Christine is the owner of the art studio located in Yorktown, Indiana and she is amazing with kids. She provides numerous homeschool art classes throughout the school year as well as camps through the summer and winter breaks. There are also classes for homeschooling high schoolers where they can get credits and work on building their portfolios. You can even go in during open studio times and sit down to create with your kids or on your own.
My daughter loves the homeschool ceramics class and I have seen her abilities grow tremendously through the school year. She has even been able to throw on the pottery wheel a few times and made some adorable creations. Her homeschooling friends enjoy the general art class for homeschoolers where they explore a variety of art mediums such as sketching, drawing and weaving.
Personally, I love that Happy Accidents is a safe place for me to drop my child off. I know that Christine cares about my kid and all of the kids in her small classes. (She keeps them to 8 or less students). I also like that my daughter is having a creative outlet and that I am not having to drag out all the art supplies at home in order to accomplish that. Don’t get me wrong, I love creating with my daughter, and we still have our times that we do so together. But I feel less pressure to make it happen because I know that she is getting a chance to explore art under a very capable art teacher each week.
If you are looking for a way to incorporate more art into your homeschool, I highly suggest checking out Happy Accidents.
Note from Star Kitty: “I love to do clay and all of the different art projects! I just love so much about it. My art class with Miss Christine is one of my favorite parts of the week!”
Note from Leopard Girl: “The art studio is pretty fun and our teacher is very nice. I like the kids and we can talk about a lot of things while doing art like Harry Potter or just random conversations. I even met my best friend Star Kitty there!”
